ONE-ON-ONE COACHING

Are you ready to get serious about your writing? Is it your intention to have your work published? Do you have positive writing goals, but you don’t know quite how to reach them, or do you sometimes wander away from the path?

One-on-one coaching is an intensive and encouraging experience in writing. We will match you with one of our teachers, based on your chosen genre and experience. Then each week, you will meet with your “coach” for one hour to work on meeting your goals. In the first week, you and your coach will have a discussion to set out just what those goals are. We’ll see what you want to do, where you are now, and what you need to do to achieve success. Once the goals are determined, you will hand in up to 20 pages (5000 words) every week to your coach. Your coach will give you line-by-line editing and an overall thematic critique. You will work your way through as many drafts as necessary and then your coach will help you with marketing and submission. This includes magazine submissions and the search for agents and book publishers.

You can meet with your coach no matter where you live. Meetings can be held online, on the phone, or in person, if you happen to be in the area!

This service is not to be taken lightly. A three-month commitment is required. This is only for the most determined writer, one who is ready to stay focused and get deeply involved with the writing life. Your coach will take this commitment very seriously…so you must be sure that you’re ready for such an undertaking.

FEE: $300/month

EDITING

If you’ve already finished a manuscript and want to make sure it has a good final polish on it before it goes out, then you may want to consider editing. When you submit a manuscript for editing, it will be returned to you with line-by-line corrections and an overall thematic critique. The editor will also let you know if he/she feels this piece is ready for submission. Suggestions for possible markets will be included at your request. Editing covers all genres: fiction, nonfiction and poetry.

FEE: $40/hour (Hint: 10 pages (2500 words) will typically take about an hour and a half to edit and so would be $60. However, some manuscripts might require more work.)
